Whispering Vessels
Empty vessels are an interesting metaphor to contemplate for how we might live our lives.
What they have contained in the past are memories and what they may contain is their destiny, but in the present moment they have neither. They are all potential, unconstrained by their past.
What would a life lived like this be? Perhaps the more we can disregard what has happened and what might happen, the more unlimited our potential is.
The pieces in this project are all made on a gel plate using acrylic inks, marker pens and charcoal pencils. Each consists of 3-5 layers or pulls on the plate. The vessels are created using stencils, sometimes allowing the previous layer to show through and sometimes by collaging previously used stencils on the print.
